Matthew 8:14-17 - Jesus Heals Peter's Mother-in-Law, Healing Not in the Atonement - Steve Gregg

Topics covered by Steve Gregg in this episode:
-All the apostles were married except Paul and Barnabas
-Jesus heals the sick and possessed after the Sabbath
-Demon Possession was well recognised by the people in that day
-Spiritual warfare
-Possession was not largely encountered in the OT
-In the NT there appears to have been a great outbreak of possession and spiritual illness in Jesus day
-Possession was still evident after Jesus (Acts 16)
-Today a physical illness is more readily identified than a spiritual one
-Attempting to treat spiritual illness as a physical illness
-Jesus healed with his word
-He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” was fulfilled in Capernaum, not on the cross or in the Atonement.

Matthew 8:14-17

New King James Version (NKJV)

Peter’s Mother-in-Law Healed

14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. 15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.[a]

Many Healed in the Evening

16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:

He Himself took our infirmities
And bore our sicknesses.”[b]
